The holo beta‐lactoglobulin lozenge reduces symptoms in cat allergy—Evaluation in an allergen exposure chamber and by titrated nasal allergen challenge

چکیده
Background The allergists´ tool box in cat allergy management is limited. Clinical studies have shown that holo beta-lactoglobulin (holoBLG) can restore micronutritional deficits atopic immune cells and alleviate allergic symptoms a completely allergen-nonspecific manner. With this study, we aimed to provide proof of principle allergy. Methods A novel challenge protocol for standardized ECARF allergen exposure chamber (AEC) was developed. In an open pilot study (NCT05455749), patients with clinically relevant were provoked 120 min the AEC before after 3-month intervention phase (holoBLG lozenge 2x daily). Nasal, conjunctival, bronchial, pruritus scored every 10 min– constituting total symptom score (TSS). Peak nasal inspiratory flow (PNIF) measured 30 min. addition, titrated provocation test (NPT) performed intervention. Primary endpoint change TSS at end final compared baseline. Secondary endpoints included changes PNIF, NPT, occurrence late reactions up 24 h exposure. Results 35 (mean age: 40 years) completed study. Compared baseline, holoBLG supplementation resulted significant improvement median 50% (p < 0.001), as well by 20 L/min = 0.0035). 20% reported baseline exposure, but 0% Conclusions Cat profited from targeted micronutrition lozenge. As previously seen other allergies, also induced resilience resulting amelioration.

متن کاملAllergen Challenge Chamber: an innovative solution in allergic rhinitis diagnosis
The Allergen Challenge Chamber (ACC) is definitely a serious challenge on the one hand and an innovative solution in allergic rhinitis diagnosis on the other. The gradual validation of the chamber (according to the test protocol) will allow for standardisation, which is a process undertaken by centres worldwide. The process of designing a consistent system that allows for creating conditions as...

Elevated serum levels of antigen-specific immunoglobulin (Ig)E are often associated with allergic respiratory diseases. This parallel-group, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial was designed to study the influence of omalizumab on the early nasal response to allergen challenge reflected by symptom score and inflammatory marker levels in nasal lavage fluid (NAL). A total of 23 pati...

BACKGROUND Cat allergen is widely distributed in homes and schools; allergic sensitization is common. OBJECTIVE To develop a model of cat allergen nasal challenge to establish dose-response and time-course characteristics and investigate local and systemic biomarkers of allergic inflammation. METHODS Nineteen cat-allergic individuals underwent titrated nasal challenge, range 0.243 to 14.6 μ...
